The National Defense Industrial Association conducted its annual Systems & Mission Engineering conference 6-8 December 2021. This virtual conference focused on systems and mission engineering transformation and modernization. The program included prominent keynotes from the Department of Defense and defense industrial base, panels, and a broad selection of speakers. Many SERC projects and researchers will be featured in the program.

The SERC would like to congratulate SERC Deputy Director Mr. Tom McDermott, who was an editor and author of the newly released "Systems Engineering and Artificial Intelligence". This textbook presents a set of collected papers from three symposia on artificial intelligence and systems engineering that were hosted jointly by the SERC, the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE), and the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI).
